Writing Center Experiences
I met this past week with the writing center to gather helpful information for my revision of my personal narrative. My writing fellow and I spent time on making my writing “focus in” on an event. My personal narrative was about my summer camp experiences, but especially about “club” and how I grew and got to know Jesus better. “Club” was when the whole camp would go into a room and sing songs to praise Jesus. The goal of my essay was to show readers why this even was so special to me. At the beginning of my essay, I was just talking about camp in general, and it did not help the readers in knowing how “club” was special to me. One thing that I learned from my writing fellow that stuck out to me was when you read something, to ask yourself, “does this contribute to how camp changed me as a person?” If the answer is no, then I either need to take that paragraph out or edit it and make it connect.
