My Strengths as a Writer
As I am nearing the end of my freshman year, it is becoming
clear in what my strengths are as a writer. Looking at the six traits of good
writing, I am strong with my ideas. I am the type of person that is better at
writing things that are creative, rather than writing facts. I have a hard time
embedding factual sentences because I want my piece of writing to be fun to
read, and it is not always the easiest when trying to make your research essay
fun to read. I normally brainstorm some ideas down in my head before I start
writing, or I’ll jot some ideas down on a piece of paper. This helps before I
write because I have to give myself structure before I write. Otherwise, my writing
would be all over the place, and it would not be developed. Another strength
that I found that I was good at was transferring my outline into an essay. I’ve
learned that the better your outline is, the easier it is to create your rough
draft. This really is easy, and I have grown in my outlines this year so that I
would not have to put a tremendous amount of work in making my rough draft.
