What Areas I Still Seed to Work on as a Writer

As a writer, I have many strengths and weaknesses. One of my weaknesses that I need to work on is my transitions. If I had to list one thing that is holding me back as a writer, it would be transitions. In long essays, my first couple of paragraphs have a good start, and then after, that I start to run out of ideas. I also struggle with starting my paragraphs in general because as a writer, you have to give a little bit of background information, so your audience knows what you are talking about, but you cannot give too much. There are plenty of things that I struggle with as a writer, but transitions are one of my prominent problems.

Luckily, Dr. D gave us some notes on how to make our transitions better last semester. She gave us a sheet filled with possible transition starter clauses, and just from that, I could see my improvement. My transitions still are not spectacular, and I would like to see my progress as a writer with my transitions. I like writing, and I want to do something that involves journalism in college, so it would be interesting to go back and see the progress that my writing has become. Having better transitions is important to me because transitions are one of the pieces that add up to good writing. Instead of just making my writing better as a whole, I want to focus on certain areas to strengthen and then move on after I have mastered those areas.
